MID MONTH UPDATE #DECEMBER#SUPERNOVA ELITE#HEAT#HOLIDAY

MID MONTH UPDATE #DECEMBER#SUPERNOVA ELITE#HEAT#SLACK

11902.44 VPP left before I hit Supernova Elite. This month has been a very slow and relaxing month for me. Unlike my usual months that are filled with all-nighter and marathon sessions I've been relatively sticking to a very relaxed schedule with about 2-3 days off each week. I think this month will be the least amount of volume as I think I'll probably be cutting my grind off at about 200k or so hands; or when I hit SNE whichever one is sooner!

I ended up taking both yesterday and today off to just relax. Since final-exams for University are coming to an end; it's been real nice to catch up with a lot of my friends that are currently in University and pig out for the winter!

On the left here is Duck Meat with Egg Yolk inside. . . that is just awesome. Of course Asian food . . . all the strangeness , to be honest it really wasn't all that bad.

On a latter note. . . I can't believe that the liquor store near by completely sold-out of Tree-Brewing Winter Ale

This month was much better than last month. . . by miles. After my first large downswing in November that completely killed my confidence and morale it was pretty much a train-wreck for me the whole way. I've been constantly revisiting a lot of the blog posts/articles I've written and found benefit in swallowing my own advice

I've still been regularly hitting the gym;~ and the results will be posted shortly once I've hit my Supernova Elite Challenge. I've worked a ton on not checking my results mid-session. . sometimes only once every day or two. Given that it was the Holiday season and I've been taking a ton of time off the tables to relax and hang with friends/family this naturally prevented me from playing a ton of extended B-Game/C-Game sessions and resulting in a much better Mid-Month than usual.

It's quite unlikely that I'll be playing the last week of December so hope everyone's looking forward to my possible last and final post for this challenge in a week.

As for my original Goal of 3evbb/100 and 200k hands. . . ~ we're actually right on the dot ! =) Quite pleased with running above Ev as well for the month.

Hopefully will be ending the following week with a total of 10-15k after rakeback.

As Always Keep Positive !
Enjoy the Holidays!
and Good Luck on the Tables! =]

Friday the 13th- Update- Count down to SNE- 12170VPPs

Friday the 13th- Update- Count down to SNE- 12170VPPs

Not exactly the greatest day, actually I think had one of the worst sessions/days this month. . . which in itself is both brag as well as a beat =P. Thought Fridays were particularly . . . "soft" so decided to fire up 200nl-Zoom which didn't go too well. Also busted 900/2000 in a Big 55$ MTT ; AJ vs AT 12bb deep. What can you expect. . .

Played about 6.5 hours today; 3.3k VPPs, bit of a downswing.

Though I'm not down a ton; I felt like I was outplayed in a ton of pots and got owned in a lot of cooler/bad situations.

Not exactly the healthiest of nutrition choices. . but I figured I need a treat now and then =)~ It is after all the holidays!

Very likely taking half or whole day off tomorrow to hang with friend. ~

As always Best of luck to everyone else on the tables !

Happy Holidays ! =)! 11-days till Christmas !

This is Why We make Money- Poker is Gambling

This is Why We make Money- Poker is Gambling
Read on

What is Poker? It's a game of incomplete information, and as any such phenomenon in the real world there's a luck aspect involved.

The respective player within this game will be dealt a hand; in the long run the luck of the hand portion will be evened out. The community cards that fall out are going to be indiscriminate of which players are on the tables. That in itself is the luck portion which in the long-run evens out itself.

Variance

This in itself is going to be something that will affect all players regardless of if you're Daniel Negreneau or Tom Dwan. This is merely a simple way of explaining and describing what happens when a negative result is unavoidable despite the assumption of optimal play.

You can and will lose money making good plays in the short-run.

But here's the Caveat. With the same respect, poor-players can subsequently "Make Money" whilst making unconsciously "bad-plays". "chasing draws, poor equity, poor range construction".

The Perspectives

To a winning player that's losing money; he knows that his long-run will be profitable and is able to distribute his results accordingly to variance or bad play. This is a result of of his/her experience and understanding of skill.

To a recreational player that's losing money; He's getting unlucky, when he's winning money he's getting lucky. A skill evaluation of himself is not present.

A winning player can evaluate his skill level, because he understands what a skill level is. Whether a play is good or bad in the long run.

A recreational player cannot evaluate his skill level since he either A) does not understand there is a such thing as skill-level in poker B) unable to determine whether a play is good or bad.

So Why Does this Matter?

Poker is gambling and luck.

If it was a game of 100% skill and it was transparent as such. Think to yourself:
Would a recreational player engage in a game that he has no skill advantage in?
Would a recreational player knowingly put money in a game that he has 0% in getting back?

The notion that Poker is Gambling is what keeps Professional Poker Players alive.

If the world is to accept Poker is a game of skill, this would drive the recreational players out. They would understand that in the long-run they're being taken in for a ride and hustled into bankruptcy.

If the world is to accept Poker is a game of skill, all those that would pursue it would actively increase their skill edge.

Consider This:
A Boxing tournament has a registration of 100$. 100 entrants. Top prize is $5500 Second $2000, Third $1500 Fourth $1000.
- If boxing were a game of luck; there's no money to be made or lost, and it's a break-even gamble in the long run.
-Given that boxing is not a game of "entirely luck". Do you think there would be a lot of "Recreational contestants".

Hopefully I've been able to clear up some things to the strangeness of this "profession". So the next time variance hits you hard; understand that it is Variance itself that keeps the games Profitable.

Embrace Variance, Embrace Tilt.

Love this aspect of the game.

So the next time someone comes up to you and say isn't Poker Gambling?

This is the most +EV reply:

It sure is! You have an equal chance as winning as me; Let's Play =).

Christmas Cheer Update #Glühwein#Bratwurst#Feuerzangenbowle

Christmas Cheer Update #Glühwein#Bratwurst#Feuerzangenbowle

Due to how I've been running: ahead of schedule, and HOT, I decided to take Tuesday Off to hang with a friend of mine. Really hoping to finish off my Supernova Elite grind as soon as possible since exam-time is almost over and I wouldn't want to miss out on all the fun parties ahead :)!

Went to see the new "Hunger Games Trilogy" earlier on yesterday but it was most certainly not what I expected. . . I have no clue how it ended up making top 2 in box-office. Given that I've already read the series; I was upset that so much of the dystopian/imbalance and abuse of power/abuse of poor aspect was downplayed a ton. Then again "Sappy Love scenes and special effects" is probably more +ev to the general audience.

Initially we were just going to pig out on a massive amount of greasy and salty food. . . but given then Christmas Cheer around downtown she diverted our attention to the Christmas market!

It's essentially a "Farmer's Market" but with 90% of the vendor's being German. I spent the entire time whilst waiting in line attempting to pronounce "Feuerzangenbowle" . . . only to sound like an idiot when ordering bleh... :(

German cheesecake, Glühwein, Bratwurst afterwards I was starting to speculate that it was less of a "Christmas Market" and more of a "German Market".

German food is and was awesome as always; I was really speculative of the Gluwein and the Feuerzangenbowle since "Warm-Alcohol" . . . sounded "strange". It was amazing, giving the impression of hot- Apple -Cider with a hint of red-wine.

Today was pretty normal day as usual. It snowed some more last
night and there was a . . small amount of snow still on parts of the ground. Really doesn't feel like Christmas in Canada without snow. . even though Vancouver gets at most a week of it a year.

Pretty stoked for going skiing soon though! Whistler usually has good snow earlier on during the season, before it gets slushy and such. Grouse Mountain is also a viable option as it's probably an hour drive and most likely be a day trip.

I had a really good slice of Apple Pie today at a Cafe near by. It was one of the Cafe's that's just been there and I knew about it. . but never really tried it.

Unlike the "drowned in sugar" , "1% apple 90% rubbish", "store bought" pies. . . there was actually no added sugar and plenty of apples within the pie. Delicious.

And of course finally. . . the grind. =X.
S'all about the nutrition. I blame the run-bad/play-bad on nutrition.

#Glühwein#Bratwurst#Feuerzangenbowle + beer+pastries+candies probably is not the most "healthy" thing.

VPP Count:
981654.55
about 18.3k left~ About 41 hours left!

Hopefully I'll be able to hit another 10-20bi upswing before then as well!

Good luck on the tables everyone! =]

and Happy Holidays!
